Gen Phoenix announces Sustainable Summer Games Refund to encourage spectators to travel more sustainably during the summer games
As the world tunes into the summer games, we at Gen Phoenix, the original manufacturer of recycled leather, are helping spectators prioritize sustainability throughout the much-anticipated event. Starting July 26th, we’re launching the Sustainable Summer Games Refund: a first-of-its-kind initiative encouraging the use of public transportation during these exciting summer games. Spectators who provide proof of use (eg: a photo of your public transit receipt) will be reimbursed for the cost of one of their bus or rail tickets, underscoring our dedication to eco-friendly practices and pioneering more sustainable solutions.
The Sustainable Summer Games Refund comes at a pivotal time when global attention is shifting towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation alternatives. While the Games traditionally leave a significant environmental footprint every two years, our initiative aims to make a positive impact. By incentivizing the use of public transportation throughout the event, we hope to play our part in reducing the carbon footprint of thousands of spectators traveling to and from sporting venues.

For more than 15 years we’ve helped our partners in the mass transportation industry across Europe outfit their trains, buses, and railways in our sustainable recycled leather. This initiative takes our commitment one step further. By focusing on one of the summer’s most highly trafficked events, we’re helping spectators prioritize sustainability in their transportation choices.
The decision to reimburse public transportation costs is rooted in our broader mission to drive sustainability across various industries, including transportation. By alleviating the additional costs of travel, we hope to encourage more people to opt for buses and trains, thereby decreasing the reliance on personal vehicles and reducing traffic congestion and emissions in the bustling city of Paris.
Since 2007, we’ve provided our low-carbon, high-quality recycled leather to mass transportation industries, outfitting buses, trains, rails, and airplanes on a global scale. We are dedicated to providing durable and aesthetic materials that industry leaders and consumers alike can feel good about. While the Sustainable Summer Games Refund is tied to this year’s summer games, our hope is that this initiative will spark inspiration for the broader transportation industry. By demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of helping consumers prioritize eco-conscious means of travel, we aim to set a precedent for future large-scale events.
How it works:
- The offer is available starting Friday, July 26 and continues through Sunday, August 11.
- The maximum reimbursement amount per ticket is €10 (EUR) or its equivalent in other currencies.
- To qualify for reimbursement, summer games spectators who take public transportation in Paris during the event (July 26 – August 11) must:
- Take a photo of your public transportation receipt.
- Send the photo of your receipt to the following email address: sustainablesummergames@genphoenix.com.
- Upon verification, Gen Phoenix will send individuals a reimbursement form to complete in order to receive their refund for the cost of the bus or rail tickets. Reimbursement will be sent directly to the participants.

- Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the Gen Phoenix Summer 2024 Public Transportation Reimbursement Offer (“Offer”) organized by Generation Phoenix Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. Generation Phoenix’sregistered address is Forli Strada, Alwalton Hill, Peterborough, England, PE7 3HH. By participating in the Offer, you agree to comply with these Terms. Generation Phoenix Limited reserves the right to amend the terms of the Offer at any time
- Eligibility
2.1 The Offer is open to legal residents of the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
2.2 Employees, officers, directors, and agents of Gen Phoenix, its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate in the Offer.
- Offer Period
The Offer begins on July 26, 2024, and ends on August 11, 2024 (“Offer Period”).
- How to Participate
4.1 To participate in the Offer, you must:
- Use public transportation (bus, rail, metro or tram) in Paris during the Offer Period.
- Take a photo of your public transportation receipt.
- Send the photo of your receipt to the following email address: sustainablesummergames@genphoenix.com.
4.2 Your email must include the following information:
- Your full name.
- A clear and legible photo of your public transportation receipt.
- The date and time of your transportation use.
- Your bank account name, bank account number and sort code details that will be used to transfer fund within 28 days of receiving a valid receipt
- Reimbursement
5.1 Gen Phoenix will reimburse participants for the cost of their bus rail, tram or metro ticket as indicated on the provided receipt.
5.2 Reimbursement will be made via electronic funds transfer or another payment method determined by Gen Phoenix. Participants may be required to provide additional information to facilitate the reimbursement.
5.3 Each participant is eligible for one reimbursement during the Offer Period.
5.4 The maximum reimbursement amount per ticket is €10 (EUR)
5.5 Gen Phoenix has allocated a total of €5,000 (EUR) towards the reimbursement fund. Once this fund is exhausted, no further reimbursements will be made, regardless of whether receipts are submitted within the Offer Period.
- Receipt Validity
6.1 Receipts must be for public transportation used in Paris during the Offer Period.
6.2 Receipts must be original, clear, and legible. Altered or illegible receipts will not be accepted.
- General Conditions
7.1 Gen Phoenix reserves the right to verify the eligibility and identity of participants.
7.2 Gen Phoenix is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, illegible, or misdirected reimbursement requests.
7.3 Gen Phoenix reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Offer at any time without prior notice.
7.4 By participating in the Offer, you agree to release and hold harmless Gen Phoenix, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Offer or receipt of any reimbursement.
- Privacy
8.1 Personal information collected in connection with the Offer will be used by Gen Phoenix in accordance with its privacy policy and applicable data protection laws.
8.2 By participating in the Offer, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes of administering the Offer.
- Governing Law
This Agreement and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Furthermore, each party to this Agreement irrevocably agrees that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with this Agreement or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
