Paul Deninger

Chairman, GenPhoenix and Operating Partner, Material Impact

Chairman of Gen Phoenix since 2023, Paul has advised hundreds of companies on strategies for building and realizing shareholder value.  As an investment banker, he completed over 125 transactions.  As a CEO, he grew the advisory firm he led by six-fold.  A deeply experienced board member, Paul currently serves on the boards of publicly held Resideo Technologies (NYSE: REZI) and EverQuote (NASDAQ: EVER), and previously of Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM) and Netegrity (NASDAQ: NETE).  He knows what it takes to build and operate a business at scale.

As a banker, Paul served as a Senior Advisor and Senior Managing Director with Evercore, a Vice Chairman of Jefferies and the CEO of Broadview International, a technology M&A advisory firm he grew to be a market leader and sold to Jefferies.  As a Material Impact Operating Partner, he advises on business strategy, capital allocation and options for liquidity, and also serves on the boards of several private companies. Paul is known for his clarity of thought, keen sense of strategy, emotional intelligence and candor.  

Paul believes deeply in the opportunities that education can provide young people.  A board member of Berklee City Music, he previously served on the boards of Big Brother Big Sister of Massachusetts Bay and Match Public Charter High School.  He holds a B.S. degree from Boston College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

He is an aging skier, a poor golfer, a wine enthusiast, and a season ticket holder for Boston’s Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox.
