Based in Peterborough, England, Gen Phoenix is the leading producer of sustainable recycled leather. In line with this vision, our CSR team-building activity, Water Works, was a perfect fit for their ‘Rise Up 2025’ conference.

‘Rise Up’ for 2025

‘Rise Up 2025’ brought together 140 delegates to celebrate Gen Phoenix’s journey so far and their shared purpose. The day began on a strong note with Mark Harvey, CFO, delivering an inspiring message: “Our time is now to make a difference.” His address set the tone perfectly for keynote speaker David Meade, founder of Lightbulb Teams, to step up and share his insights. David delivered an engaging talk on the importance of communication and connection. Following this, delegates rolled up their sleeves (and covered their eyes!) to tackle our Water Works challenge.

The Aim of Water Works

Water Works is a team-building activity that challenges teams to build life-saving water filters for communities in need. Contaminated water is one of the leading causes of sight loss—and often, loss of life. Every filter offers the promise of a future where clean water is accessible, making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

During this exercise, Gen Phoenix delegates stepped out of their comfort zones to assemble 25 water filters—all while blindfolded. It was a profound experience in trust, communication, and collaboration.
