Taking products from emerging to iconic is what Elyse is all about. She joined Gen Phoenix in 2023 from Material Impact, after spending six months advising the company on marketing and brand development.
Gen Phoenix is Elyse’s dream job, as it allows her to pursue three of her passions: marketing, sustainability and fashion. She feels strongly that branding is all about making a connection with the customer, and her core value is best expressed by Maya Angelou: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
At Material Impact, Elyse was a Partner responsible for helping its deep tech portfolio companies build enduring brands that resonate with customers and partners. Her track record for building brands, developing commercial strategies, and helping to launch game-changing products has earned recognition from Forbes as a “30 Under 30” honouree in Marketing & Advertising, the Sports & Fitness Industry Association as a “Future Industry Leader”, and from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association as a “Rising Star”.
A lifetime ago, Elyse was a pre-law major in college, which followed her team winning the Massachusetts Bar Association’s High School Mock Trial Championship, and her personally winning “Best Performance” at Nationals. That award was no surprise as Elyse had been performing in local and school theatres since she was 8 years old. Fortunately for us, she discovered marketing and let her dreams of a career in law or on Broadway pass (for now).
Elyse holds a BS degree from Cornell University where she was magna cum laude. She and her husband spend their free time traveling and enjoying their two young children.
