Mark couples his natural entrepreneurship with big company experience and an extraordinary attention to detail to help Gen Phoenix manage its growth. Thoughtful and direct, he brings rigor to our decision making and pragmatism to our courses of action. He joined the company in 2021 after spending 25 years at Ernst & Young, where he advised both entrepreneurs and the CEOs of global enterprises. He had served most recently as Senior Partner and country manager for Scotland, with 1200 people reporting to him.
Mark is a strong advocate for building trust among colleagues and with customers. His style is to engage and listen. This has served him well in his quest to get the best out of people, and has resulted in him quickly becoming a culture carrier at Gen Phoenix. At the same time, he is data-driven, “keeps the trains running on time” and, as Head of Sustainability, is equally passionate about both Gen Phoenix’s mission and of achieving meaningful carbon reduction outcomes. But good luck recognizing his accent, as he has worked in London, Scotland and the US, as well as his native Ireland.
An internationally ranked tennis player in his youth playing for Ireland’s Junior team, he has slowed considerably but still fancies himself as being competitive. Mark has an MSc in Accounting from Queen’s University Belfast.
He plays golf badly, supports Arsenal passionately, and enjoys spending time with his family.
